George Chirakis is an Australian investment professional and Partner at Scarcity Partners. His career has moved from law into asset management, sales, distribution, and private markets leadership.
George Chirakis Biography
George Chirakis built his professional name through senior roles in the Australian funds management industry. Public sources show that he now works at Scarcity Partners, where he focuses on capital partnerships, portfolio company growth, and broader strategic work across private markets. Before that, he served as Chief Executive Officer of Ophir Asset Management and spent earlier years at AMP Capital and Fidelity International.
His background is stronger in business and law than in public celebrity. That matters because most reliable information about him comes from company announcements, professional profiles, and industry publications rather than personal media coverage. Those sources give a clear picture of his career, but they do not provide much public detail about his private life.
Career at Scarcity Partners
George Chirakis joined Scarcity Partners in January 2025 and became a Partner at the firm. The company says his role includes driving capital partnerships, supporting portfolio company growth, and advancing Scarcity’s strategic initiatives across private markets. Scarcity also said that he would help expand fundraising efforts and support the growth of portfolio companies.
This move placed him in a senior private equity and private markets role after many years in asset management. Scarcity Partners described him as bringing about 20 years of experience in investment management, sales, and distribution, which shows that his career is built on long industry experience rather than a single short term role.
Career at Ophir Asset Management
Before joining Scarcity Partners, George Chirakis was Chief Executive Officer of Ophir Asset Management. According to Scarcity Partners and Money Management, he joined Ophir in February 2019 as an Investment Director, was promoted to Chief Executive in August 2019, and left the firm in November 2024 after almost six years there.
His time at Ophir was an important part of his career. Scarcity Partners said that he led non investment functions there and was involved in launching new products and trebling funds under management. PWN also states that while at Ophir, he led the firm’s expansion across retail and institutional markets, strengthened investment distribution, and oversaw significant growth in funds under management.
This type of role matters in asset management because growth is not only about investment performance. It also depends on distribution, product design, investor relationships, and market positioning. The public descriptions of Chirakis’s work at Ophir point to experience in all of those areas.

Earlier Experience in Finance and Law
George Chirakis did not start his career in private equity. The public record shows earlier senior roles at AMP Capital and Fidelity International. Scarcity Partners says that at AMP Capital he held leadership roles connected to the Self Managed Super Fund and private client businesses, and also headed global channel marketing. It also says he spent time at Fidelity International in London in product and governance focused roles.
MarketScreener gives additional detail on his earlier career. It lists him as having served as Head of SMSF and Self Directed Wealth at AMP Capital Investors, Senior Manager at FIL Investments International, and Associate at Kelly & Co. Lawyers. It also notes an earlier connection with the University of Adelaide.
That background shows a career path that combines legal training with financial services experience. Starting in law and then moving into investment management is a common route for professionals who later work in strategy, distribution, and leadership. In Chirakis’s case, the available sources clearly show that progression.
Education
George Chirakis’s education is one of the clearest parts of his public profile. PWN states that he completed a Bachelor of Laws with Honours and a Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting at the University of Adelaide. It also says that he holds an MBA with Distinction from the Australian Graduate School of Management at UNSW.
LinkedIn also lists AGSM at UNSW Business School in his education section, which matches the information shared by PWN. MarketScreener says he received his undergraduate degree from the University of Adelaide. Together, these sources show a strong academic base in law, commerce, and business leadership.
His education helps explain the shape of his career. A law degree can support work in regulation, contracts, governance, and commercial decision making, while a commerce degree and MBA fit naturally with investment management, distribution strategy, and business growth. That combination is visible throughout the roles he has held.
Family
Public sources reviewed for this article do not list George Chirakis’s spouse, children, or parents. His professional profiles focus on his career, education, and industry work, not on family details. For that reason, a responsible biography should avoid guessing about his private life.
This is common for senior finance professionals. Many choose to keep personal information private, and unless a trustworthy public source confirms it, family details should not be treated as verified biography content. In Chirakis’s case, the available public record stays centered on work history and qualifications.
Net Worth
No verified public net worth figure was found in the reliable sources reviewed for this article. Scarcity Partners, PWN, LinkedIn, and MarketScreener describe his career history and current role, but they do not publish a confirmed wealth estimate. Any number found on low quality websites would be speculative, so it should not be presented as fact.
For that reason, the most accurate way to describe his financial standing is to say that he is a senior executive in private markets with a long career in investment management, but his exact personal net worth is not publicly documented in the sources used here.
Life Story
George Chirakis’s life story, based on public information, is a steady professional journey from legal training into financial services leadership. He began as a commercial and taxation lawyer after studying law and commerce at the University of Adelaide. He later expanded his career through roles in investment management and product leadership, including positions at Kelly & Co. Lawyers, Fidelity International, and AMP Capital.
He then moved into senior leadership at Ophir Asset Management, where he helped grow the business, supported product development, and played a role in lifting funds under management. After that, he shifted into private equity and joined Scarcity Partners as a Partner in January 2025. This move shows a career that continued to move upward into broader strategic responsibility.
His public profile also shows links to Adelaide and London, which fits the international shape of his career.
